Praeclarus Lighting System

Praeclarus represents a new generation of combined power and data lighting products principally intended for the production of architectural matrix and three dimensional lighting arrays. With a range of single colour, RGB or RGBW lamps supported by a versatile user defined wire structure, the system produces beautiful lighting effects with unparalleled versatility of form and transparency. Despite being on a common cable structure each lamp has full independent control.

The system comprises a user specified support cables structure comprising stainless steel or copper wires. The structure supports virtually any number of lamps.  A lamp can be fitted at any crossing intersection of the support cables. A version which operates with parallel wires is also available and simplifies installation for some applications. The lamps mechanical connection to the support cables is based on small spring clips which are robust and easy to fit.

The cable system provides mechanical support, electrical supply and control data for the lamps. Because there are no other wires the system has a very high degree of transparency to provide an uncluttered and pure lighting effect.  Cables can be run in curved formations and at virtually any spacing for excellent design flexibility.

Support Cables

Support cables are flexible wires which may be made from a number of materials depending on the application. The support cables form either a bi-directional or X / Y mesh with lamps at a user defined spacing placed at intersections of the X / Y cables. A different version operates with all cables running in one direction. This version simplifies installation in applications where curved shapes are not required.

We can supply a range of cable terminations and insulators which simplify support cable installation.

About the Praeclarus Lamp

The Praeclarus lamp has recently been re designed and now forms a compact clip on unit available with white diffused, smoked or clear caps. There are two main variants, one for systems based on an XY cable configuration. This version is particularly suited to installations where the required shape is curved. The second version connects to cables running in parallel.

Either version comprises single colour, RGB or RGBW LEDS and special decoding circuitry to interpret our unique combined power and data technology.

During installation lamps are given a unique number using an infra red hand programmer. To set a lamp number, set the power unit to enable hand programmer, point the hand programmer at a given lamp and press program.

Praeclarus Typical Installation

Main Features of the Praeclarus Lighting System

  • Available with arrange of diffusers.
  • Clip on cable mounting for easy installation.
  • Single colour, RGB or RGBW versions.
  • 120 degree viewing angle.
  • Failure of one lamp will not compromise the rest of the system.
  • Low diameter support cable for high transparency.

Operation

A system is comprised of a VP or IP series mains driver. These accept universal mains supply and output a DC voltage with the combined power and data signal modulated on the supply. Up to a full DMX universe (200 single colour, 170 RGB or 127 RGBW) Praeclarus lamps all wire in parallel from the driver output. Lamps can be wired in strings or individually wired and connect back to the power unit outputs using terminals or splitters. Once wiring is complete, each lamp is assigned a number using the Infra Red Hand Programmer. The number makes a given lamp unique on the system. Note that multiple lamps can be assigned the same number and will then operate from the same DMX Channels. Once installation is complete each lamp will respond to the assigned DMX channels.
