DFS4000 Conduit Lighting System

Manufactured in the UK, DFS4000 Conduit forms a compact easy to wire LED node with single colour, RGB or RGBW options. The system is principally for fixed installations. The surface wiring system offers ‘scaled down industrial’ appearance and is very simple to install.

DFS4000 LED nodes are powered from VP or IP series drivers and are wired with simple two conductor cabling. Each LED node is individually controllable. All versions operate at voltages lower than the SELV limit. All Glasson Electronics LED products employ linear current control as opposed to PWM. This provides extremely smooth diming even at low intensities.

About the DFS4000 Conduit Lighting System

Each unit comprises a base assembly which attaches to the mounting surface. 7mm diameter flexible conduit clips into the base assembly offering a simple surface wiring system with a ‘scaled down industrial’ aesthetic. Two conductors run through the conduit and terminate in the base using insulation displacement connectors. Once base assembly and wiring are installed an aluminium top cover and diffuser clip over the base to complete the assembly. The finished assembly forms a robust and attractive high brightness LED node.

Main Features of the DFS1000 Lighting System

  • Simple surface mounting installation.
  • Polarity insensitive – connects to the cable either way around.
  • Linear current control (not PWM) for excellent flicker free colours when viewed with a video camera.
  • Excellent step free smooth dimming.
  • Each node has a unique address which is user programmed using the hand programmer. The address can be reprogrammed thousands of times.
  • Internal fuse resistor prevents a single failure compromising the whole system.
  • Dimensions – 43mm diameter x 29mm high
  • Weight 20g.
  • Drive voltage – 40-48V.
  • Current 55mA.
  • Power = 2.0W

DFS4000 Conduit Operation

A system is comprised of a VP or IP series mains driver. These accept universal mains supply and output a DC voltage with the combined power and data signal modulated on the positive output. Up to a full DMX universe (200 single colour, 170 RGB or 127 RGBW) DFS4000 nodes all wire in parallel from the driver output. Nodes can be wired in strings or can be individually wired and connect back to the power unit outputs using terminals or splitters. Once wiring is complete, each lamp is assigned a number using the Infra red hand programmer. The number makes a given lamp unique on the system. Note that multiple nodes can be assigned the same number and will then operate from the same DMX Channels. Once installation is complete each lamp will respond to the assigned DMX channels.
