DFS5000 Lighting System

DFS5000 provides a range of large evenly illuminated LED lamps which are ideal for pelmet applications. The lamps are formed from high quality PMMA globes which are available in white or frosted finish. Four sizes are available 152, 210, 250 and 300mm diameter. The system is designed to provide equal visible brightness across all sizes.

DFS5000 lamps are available in single colour or RGBW specifications. As with all Digital Festoon products, a number of lamps can be independently controlled on a common single two conductor cable offering uniquely simple installation. A typical wiring example is provided overleaf;-

All Glasson Electronics LED products employ linear current control as opposed to PWM. This provides extremely smooth diming even at low intensities.

DFS5000 Typical Installation

Technical Overview

DFS5000 lamps are based on robust high quality PMMA globes with Anodised aluminium top caps. Lamps can be supplied with a standard E27 lamp base or a cable gland and customer specified length of two conductor flex. Lamps wire in parallel using any suitably rated two conductor cable.

DFS5000 lamps feature high performance LEDs realising excellent intensity and colour mixing. During commissioning, each lamp is assigned a number with the IR hand programmer which operates over a short range infra red link. The address can be re programmed thousands of times if required

Main Features of the DFS5000 Lighting System

  • Polarity insensitive – connects to the cable either way around.
  • Single colour and RGBW versions.
  • High performance LEDS.
  • Linear current control (not PWM) for excellent flicker free colours when viewed with a video camera.
  • Internal protection – failure of one LED unit will not compromise the system.
  • Strong plastic globe with good UV resistance.

Operation

A system is comprised of a VP or IP series mains driver. These accept universal mains supply and output a DC voltage with the combined power and data signal modulated on the supply. All lamps wire in parallel and can be wired in strings or individually wired and connect back to the power unit outputs using terminals or splitters. Once wiring is complete, each lamp is assigned a number using the Infra Red Hand Programmer. The number makes a given lamp unique on the system. Note that multiple lamps can be assigned the same number and will then operate from the same DMX Channels. Once installation is complete each lamp will respond to the assigned DMX channels.
